Job description
Overview

Oldham Engineering Limited is a well-established medium sized engineering business with a long history and exciting plans for business growth. We are looking to strengthen our team and appoint a NDE Coordinator based at our manufacturing sites in Oldham and Sheffield. The role involves non-destructive testing and organising NDE activities, with responsibilities to inspect, interpret, evaluate and report in accordance with recommended practice, procedures, and national and international specifications and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Visual Inspection
  • Magnetic Inspection
  • Liquid Penetrant Inspection
  • Ultrasonic Inspection
  • Work to relevant procedures and specifications
  • Carry out and record daily, weekly, monthly validation checks
  • Record results, interpret, evaluate and provide a verdict on results
  • Record and report discrepancies, where necessary
  • Work under observation by clients and client appointed inspection personnel
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Level I personnel as required
  • Occasional involvement in technical meetings with clients or client representatives to discuss and interpret NDE requirements
  • Write non-project specific practices and procedures
  • Populate weld logs and NDE logs
  • Other ad-hoc duties as required to assist with the general operation of the facility
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Operators shall be qualified at minimum to PCN/CSWIP Level II: Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
  • Visual Inspection (VT)
  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – 3.9 Weldments (Castings, Forgings & Wrought Products also desirable but not essential)
  • Competence in using a desktop computer and fluency in the Microsoft Office suite to record, validate and issue inspection documents
Candidate Requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative; willing to develop skills for continuous improvement and customer focus
  • Flexibility to meet company and customer requirements where possible
  • Ability to communicate with customers, customers' representatives, external inspection authorities and all levels of the organisation
