Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant work experience in a natural environment / biodiversity related discipline.
  • Evidence of continual professional development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work positively with residents, community groups and contractors.
  • Ability to develop and manage strong and effective partnerships.
  • Good negotiation skills.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Natural Environment Officer to join us! This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, and a salary of £32,962 – £36,791 per annum.

The Role

The position focuses on enhancing biodiversity and connecting people with the natural environment through education, projects, and partnerships. It involves delivering initiatives aligned with the Environment and Climate Strategy and Local Nature Recovery Strategy, while ensuring compliance with statutory biodiversity duties.


Your Role Will Involve


  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with schools, residents, businesses, and community groups; organize events and training to promote nature conservation and sustainability.

  • Project Delivery: Implement and identify projects to improve biodiversity and natural spaces within the Borough.

  • Statutory Reporting: Produce the Biodiversity Duty report under the Environment Act 2021 and develop monitoring frameworks.

  • Funding & Partnerships: Apply for grants and manage partnerships to support projects and generate income for Braywick Nature Centre.

  • Biodiversity Net Gain: Lead implementation and management of sites for biodiversity enhancement.

  • Promotion: Publicise conservation work via RBWM websites and social media.

  • Safeguarding: Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults.


What We Are Looking For


  • Degree or relevant work experience in a natural environment / biodiversity related discipline.

  • Evidence of continual professional development.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
