This is a full-time, permanent position, offering the chance to teach in a school that places the arts at the heart of its culture and values creativity as highly as academic success.

The Role

You will teach Music across Key Stages 3–5, delivering engaging lessons that build confidence, technical ability, and appreciation for a broad range of musical styles. The successful candidate will foster curiosity and performance skills through dynamic teaching, helping students connect their learning to the wider world of music.

You’ll also have the opportunity to play an active role in the school’s extensive performing arts programme, directing ensembles, leading choirs, supporting musical theatre productions, and coordinating concerts. The department encourages innovative ideas, whether that’s developing a songwriting club, expanding community partnerships, or organising a student-led performance event.

The School

This Exeter school has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and a vibrant creative culture. With around 1,200 students aged 11–18, it continues to achieve strong results at both GCSE and A-Level, with Music consistently among its top-performing subjects.

The school boasts a dedicated Performing Arts Centre complete with rehearsal studios, practice rooms, and a digital recording suite, alongside a concert hall regularly used for community and student performances. Pupils are highly motivated, with many participating in regional and national competitions.

Staff describe the school as “a place where teachers are trusted to be creative and students are genuinely eager to learn.” The leadership team is approachable and forward-thinking, providing strong professional development and a genuine commitment to staff wellbeing.

Why Join?

  • Excellent academic results and a vibrant creative ethos
  • Opportunities to lead performances, ensembles, and extra-curricular activities
  • Supportive leadership team that values innovation and balance
  • Regular CPD, career development, and leadership progression
