Job summary

A leading housing organization is seeking a Multi-Trade Operative in Croydon. This role involves undertaking various trade tasks such as carpentry, plumbing, and repairs to ensure properties are ready for occupancy. Candidates should hold a relevant NVQ qualification and have proven experience in multi-trade roles. The successful hire will be offered a contract for 2 months, with the possibility of extension, and the pay ranges from £18.22 to £23.27 per hour.

Job description

Overview

We are working closely with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Multi-Trade Operative, on a 2-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.22 - £23.27 per hour

Responsibilities

• Undertake a variety of multi-skilled trade tasks, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, painting, and basic electrical works.
• Carry out repairs, maintenance, and refurbishments to void properties to ensure they are ready for occupancy within agreed timescales.
• Work independently and proactively to complete allocated jobs in line with schedules and quality standards.
• Identify and report any additional works required, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately.
• Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and organisational policies.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent trade qualification in a core discipline (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, plastering, or similar).

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a multi-trade operative, maintenance operative, or similar role.
• Strong experience in carrying out void property works, including a range of internal and external repairs.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple trades to a competent standard.
• Experience working within housing, local authority, or construction sector (desirable).
