Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Power Generation company to recruit a Multi‑Skilled Technician to work at its Biomass plant in Chester.

The Multi‑Skilled Technician comes with a starting salary of up to £50,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Multi‑Skilled Technician
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical plant and equipment across the power station
  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing functional testing on a range of power plant systems
  • Supporting maintenance activities outside of your core discipline when required
  • Assisting during planned outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance activities
  • Inspecting and maintaining plant assets to ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site procedures and safe systems of work
  • Updating maintenance records and work orders accurately using the CMMS
  • Identifying reliability issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with operations and maintenance colleagues to maximise plant availability and performance
  • Actively supporting site safety culture, including hazard reporting and participation in investigations
Professional qualifications
  • Level 3 qualified in relevant engineering qualification with apprenticeship completed.
  • An HNC or higher engineering qualification (desirable)
  • At least 3 years’ maintenance experience in a heavy process or industrial environment, such as
  • An IOSH or Health & Safety qualification (desirable)

  • Confident decision‑maker with strong ownership, accountability, and problem‑solving skills.
