Job Title: Multi Skilled Static (Electrical Bias Shift) Engineer

Location: Cardiff

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off (12-hour shifts), days and nights

Contract: Permanent

Our client is one of the UK's foremost building services companies, renowned for delivering cost-effective and energy-efficient building management, operational, and technical solutions for various types of properties, including retail parks, leisure complexes, educational establishments, and commercial properties.

Purpose and Objectives

We are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled (Electrical Bias Shift) Engineer capable of delivering high-quality service while performing routine maintenance on-site. The ideal candidate will demonstrate autonomy, sound decision-making skills, and effective workload management without direct supervision. Building strong relationships with clients, site staff, and colleagues is essential. The role involves working across different buildings, performing Planned Preventive Maintenance, and handling reactive and emergency breakdown tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance, complete relevant paperwork and reports.
  2. Handle Reactive and emergency tasks, ensuring proper documentation.
  3. Utilize handheld technology within specified timescales.
  4. Assist team members or as directed by the Contract Supervisor/Manager.
  5. Ensure all tasks are completed within contractual timeframes.
  6. Supervise visiting subcontractors regarding work standards and Health & Safety, issue permits, control small works, and perform escort duties as required.
  7. Adhere to company policies and procedures in all duties.
  8. Accurately complete all work-related documentation on time.
  9. Maintain excellent customer relations with onsite clients.
  10. Work safely and diligently, complying with Health and Safety policies, reporting incidents accordingly.
  11. Participate in training and appraisal activities as required.
  12. Undertake additional duties as needed.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience in maintenance, testing, and fault finding on equipment such as ventilation systems, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power, and lighting (where applicable).
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
  • Strong customer care focus and good communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to diagnose and repair faults.
  • Capability to complete paperwork accurately and promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must have 18th Edition certification.
  • Qualified NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, with an electrical apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Cleanroom experience is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and rapport-building abilities.
Additional Information

Benefits include a £2,500 shift allowance, 22 days holidays (increasing after 5 years), company sick pay, regular socials, 5.7% employer pension contribution, free parking on some sites, trade card, staff referral scheme, birthday voucher, Employee of the Month voucher, and a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off (days and nights, 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am).
