Job description

Job Title: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: £40 - 45k
Shift: Days only, early finish on Friday

Overview

Metalis are looking for a skilled and proactive Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic high-volume production client in Sheffield. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the plant equipment, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems while supporting mechanical tasks as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform planned preventive and reactive maintenance on electrical and electro-mechanical equipment (production lines, motors, pumps, control panels, etc.).
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults, including control wiring, drives, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Support mechanical repairs involving pumps, pipework, and hydraulics.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical regulations, HSE standards, and environmental requirements.
Person Specification
  • Time-served Electrical Engineer with 18th Edition certification.
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including motors, drives, control circuits, and PLCs.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities.
  • Awareness of HSE compliance in chemical or manufacturing environments.
