Job description

Multi Skilled Emissions Technician
Location: Darlington, County Durham, UK
Contract: Permanent

Salary:Salary:£37,501 to£47,500 (depending on experience)

Basic from £31,501 to £38,500 (depending on experience)

Shift allowance:

During training: approx. £6,000.00 per annum

Weekend shifts: approx. £9,000.00 per annum

We are a specialist recruitment agency seeking applications on behalf of our client, a leading global manufacturing organisation. They are looking for a talented Multi Skilled Emissions Technician who has worked in an engineering maintenance team to join their product development team in Darlington.

Shift Pattern

  • Training Shifts (first 6 months) rotating weekly, 37.5 hours:
    • Monday Friday: 6.00am 2.00pm
    • Monday Friday: 2.00pm 10.00pm
  • Ongoing Rotating Weekend Shifts (4-week cycle, 37.5 hrs):
    • Fri/Sat/Sun Days: 7.00am 7.00pm
    • Fri/Sat/Sun Nights: 7.00pm 7.00am
    • Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon Days: 7.00am 7.00pm
    • Fri/Sat/Sun Nights: 7.00pm 7.00am

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair test cell equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Keep machinery and systems running at peak performance with minimal downtime.
  • Operate and optimise development test cells to support engine testing and emissions monitoring.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, prioritising tasks effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement through preventative maintenance and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and suppliers to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Manage parts ordering and supplier coordination.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting test cell equipment & support systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a 24/7 support environment.
  • Strong focus on safety, risk management, and quality standards.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications (Essential)

  • HNCor equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Electrical NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds 2365 Level 3 Electrotechnical or equivalent
  • City & Guilds 2382-15 (18th Edition)or equivalent electrical qualification
