• Experience interpreting electrical drawings and safe working practices.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and fire safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical maintenance, inspections and testing.
• Identify and resolve electrical faults across the estate.
• Support planned preventative maintenance.

The Role

As a Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased), you'll help keep vital electrical systems safe, compliant and running effectively across a secure and varied estate.

Day–to–day, you'll carry out electrical maintenance, inspections and testing while supporting reactive tasks to ensure the site continues to operate smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering electrical maintenance, inspection and testing in line with SFG20
• Identifying and resolving electrical faults across the estate
• Supporting planned preventative maintenance programmes
• Completing reactive repairs and assisting with broader M&E tasks
• Maintaining accurate compliance documentation and asset records

Essential experience of the Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased):

• Proven electrical maintenance and fault finding experience within an M&E or industrial/commercial setting
• Confidence interpreting electrical drawings and carrying out safe system of work practices
• Experience working with systems such as HVAC, lighting, power, fire safety and security
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with internal teams and external suppliers

Essential qualifications for the Building Services Engineer (Electrical Biased):

• Level 3 Electrical Qualification such as C&G Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Technology
• BS 7671 (18th Edition, Amendment 2)
• AM2 assessment
• Inspection / Testing & Verification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent NVQ, either the or .

This role is 37 hours per week, based at our St Kilda site.

QinetiQ operates state–of–the–art facilities across the UK that focus on defence, security and technology innovation. These facilities enable QinetiQ to conduct a wide range of research, testing and development activities that support both military and civilian applications helping to advance technology and support national security.

The role requires living and working on the remote island of St Kilda. The working pattern is a four week on/four week off shift pattern.

Consideration for the requirement of the individual to build and have effective working relationships and the ability to embrace the unique St Kilda facility and close working family.

Travel required from Benbecula Range Head to St Kilda via the QinetiQ helicopter or by vessel.
