Job description

Job Purpose

This is a key position, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations within a specified region.

To carry out planned and reactive maintenance and repairs to a range of electrical, mechanical, and building assets in ASDA stores efficiently and cost-effectively, while complying with Company Health and Safety procedures.

This includes, but is not limited to, bakery and catering equipment, mechanical and electrical systems, lighting, building fabric, water services, and other static and portable electrical equipment. General maintenance and first look are required for HVAC, Fire, Security, electrical, and general issues.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with City and ASDA colleagues.
  2. Complete all necessary PPMs, ensure all remedial tasks are logged and actioned, ensuring legal compliance.
  3. Supervise the Maintenance Assistant, providing coaching and support.
  4. Respond promptly to service call requests from Helpdesk, assess requirements, and carry out repairs.
  5. Prioritize maintenance work to meet timescales and SLA agreements.
  6. Communicate with Store Management and RES regarding repair and maintenance issues affecting store operations.
  7. Conduct surveys and complete reports as needed.
  8. Perform alterations and installations within your technical competence and specifications.
  9. Carry out repairs and general maintenance at ASDA stores as designated by the RES.
  10. Assist other MSTs across stores/regions upon request.
  11. Recruit and select qualified Maintenance Assistants following company policies.
  12. Maintain accurate administration, record jobs, and utilize time effectively.
  13. Attend training to stay current with technical developments, including overnight stays if necessary.
  14. Comply with Health and Safety policies at all times.
  15. Ensure compliance documentation is completed to standard.
  16. Ensure team attends mandatory training and completes eLearning modules on time.
  17. Provide coaching and technical training to team members.
  18. Complete induction, training administration, and probation reviews.
  19. Participate in Out of Hours standby rota, including repairs to plumbing and drainage.
  20. Perform first look repairs for equipment such as Fire, Security, HVAC, electrical, and general issues.
  21. Follow any other reasonable instructions from RES or City Management.

People Responsibilities

  1. Interview, recruit, oversee, and manage Maintenance Assistants for the stores they cover.
  2. Manage holiday and absence records using Cascade.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Essential:

  • GCSE standard education
  • C&G 2382 (18th edition)
  • Level 3 core Electrical qualification (e.g., C&G 2330, 2365, etc.) with relevant experience
  • Familiarity with electrical certification completion
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection
  • Relevant industry experience or time served in electrical discipline

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of 3-phase electrics and applications
