We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced MRI Radiographer to play a key role in overseeing the day‑to‑day clinical operations of our MRI Department, working closely with the MRI Principal Radiographer. This is a hands‑on clinical role, requiring extensive MRI knowledge and expertise, alongside a strong commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the clinical lead MRI Radiographer, performing a wide range of complex examinations and supporting the MRI Principal Radiographer in leading radiographers and Clinical Support Workers in the day‑to‑day running of the service.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the MRI department, maintaining high standards of patient care and managing the in‑patient waiting list effectively.
  • Organise and oversee the training and education of radiographers and students, including the delivery of competency assessments across all aspects of MRI scanning.
  • Work with the MRI Principal Radiographer and Cross‑Sectional Imaging Manager to drive continuous improvement, using modern methods to enhance productivity, support workforce transformation, and contribute to service redesign.
  • Lead the MRI QA programme, participate in CPD, audits, and mandatory training, and contribute to the planning, selection, and procurement of new technology and associated facilities.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and uphold the highest standards of professional behaviour.
  • Ensure the safety of patients, colleagues, and visitors by adhering to all magnet safety policies and procedures and all Trust governance policies.
Service Context

Our service operates across Arrowe Park Hospital and the Clatterbridge Diagnostic Centre, with staff rotating between both locations. We are equipped with three state‑of‑the‑art Philips MRI scanners featuring the latest deep‑learning iterative reconstruction software, and a brand‑new scanner is expected to be operational by spring 2026.

We deliver a wide range of imaging services, including paediatric GA lists, Radiographer‑led pacemaker lists, small bowel imaging and breast imaging, offering an exciting and varied clinical environment.
