Job summary

A leading educational institution in the UK is seeking a GCE English Literature Moderator to review candidates’ assessments. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience, a relevant degree, and be a qualified teacher. Key responsibilities include moderating coursework and assessments, with a commitment to diversity and inclusion at the core of the company's values. Training will be provided in May-June, with moderation occurring between May-July.

Job description

A GCE English Literature (New Specification) Moderator will review the centre assessment of candidates’ work in accordance with the agreed assessment criteria and Pearson's procedures. Each moderator will moderate a specified number of centre samples.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the moderation of parts of a subject examination, such as coursework, projects and special studies, which are marked initially by teachers in the centres and then sent to you. Moderation will usually involve sampling procedures.

  • Undertake, when necessary, the direct assessment of school-based components in the subject where centres opt not to make initial assessments.

  • Complete and submit centre reports to the Team Leader or Principal Moderator as required.

Experience / Qualifications Needed
  • One academic year’s worth of teaching experience within the last 8 years and within the relevant qualification and subject.

  • A degree or equivalent.

  • Qualified teacher.

Competencies Required
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • High level of subject knowledge to apply the mark scheme.

Additional Information
  • The marking period is between May – July.

  • The training required to mark as an examiner will take place between May and June.
