Job Title: Plant Mechanic

Location: Near Connah’s Quay, North Wales – covering Northwest & North Wales.

We are looking for a skilled Plant Mechanic with forklift repair experience. As part of the growing service team based near Connah’s Quay, you’ll service, repair and maintain a wide range of material handling equipment, including forklifts and plant machinery, across the Northwest and North Wales.

Our client is searching for a professional with a strong background in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems. Experience with forklifts, plant machinery and the ability to diagnose, repair and maintain to a high standard is required. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, has a customer‑first attitude, and seeks a role that offers good work‑life balance with limited overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out repairs, servicing, and inspection across a wide variety of material handling equipment, primarily forklift trucks and similar equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical/electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance of machinery.
• Identify and replace or repair defective parts and components as required.
• Maintain accurate electronic records of repairs and maintenance performed.
• Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while working on equipment.
• Keep work area clean and organised, ensuring all tools are maintained in good condition.
• Carry out Service Inspections and Thorough Examinations to GN28/UKMHA standard.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

• Industry recognised qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent.
• Strong experience with mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
• A valid driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• IT literacy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Residence within 25 mile radius of Connah’s Quay.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift Truck Operator’s Licence (not essential).
• Prior experience with material handling equipment or similar machinery.
• Experience with telematics and CAN bus systems, or willingness to learn these systems.
