Position Overview:

Working within an industry-leading organisation at Finning, the largest CAT dealership in the UK and Ireland, your role as Hose Engineer involves providing quick site-based responses for hose making and replacement services to commercial and industrial customers.

You will produce certified clean Caterpillar hoses, support hose and coupling knowledge to service, parts, and customer operations, and follow Caterpillar HIS (Hydraulic Information System) for hose builds.

Job Description:

As a Finning Hose Engineer, you will receive:

  • Salary - £33,970 (43-hour week)
  • Commission - £15,000 OTE (uncapped commission)
  • 25 days holiday (+ option to purchase up to 5 extra days)

Major Job Functions:
  • Respond to customer service requests, assess response times, and communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Manufacture hose assemblies to meet customer needs, both internal and external.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels on the FHS van and ensure repair equipment is in proper working order.
  • Develop business for FHS through good customer relations and feedback on competitive activities.
  • Manage work orders to ensure timely invoicing and control costs.
Specific Skills:
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent influencing and networking abilities.
  • Proficient IT skills, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to interpret large datasets to support planning and decision-making.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of service manuals, computerised Service Information System (SIS), and Hydraulic Information System (HIS).
  • Practical knowledge of hydraulic hose tooling and assembly equipment.
  • Hydraulic and mechanical fitting skills.
  • Experience with specialist hose cutting and crimping tools.
Accountability:
  • Adhere to scheduled job times.
  • Ensure high-quality finished products.
  • Maintain positive customer feedback and zero complaints.
  • Follow SHEQ policies, maintain a tidy and safe workspace.
  • Perform pre-use checks on equipment.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering or service experience, preferably in hydraulic hoses.
  • Customer-facing experience.
  • Health & Safety awareness.
