Experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon, Glasgow, Excellent Travel Links and Relocation Package Available

This friendly mixed practice who are in very close proximity to Glasgow airport, areseeking an enthusiastic and driven, experienced mixed veterinary surgeon to join their supportive and dedicated team.

The practice is proud to offer its own out-of-hours service, with a week of nights followed by a week off, in addition to 33 days of holiday per year. The group has two practices just outside of Glasgowand easy access to the stunning lochs and Munros, perfect for exploring during your generous time off. Areas of interest are actively encouraged, with a CPD allowance of £1,750.

The Role
  • In a compassionate and supportive environment, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the well-being of animal companions.
  • The practice is home to a diverse team with over 44 years of collective experience, always offering support and advice. There are colleagues pursuing certifications in equine, medicine, and ophthalmology.
  • The practice is primarily small animal-focused (80%), but with 20% of the work dedicated to large animals. Mixed vets typically work around a 70/30 split, depending on their interests and preferences, with flexibility to accommodate individual biases once a baseline level of competence is achieved.
  • As part of the Vet Partners network, the practice offers additional training opportunities and access to resources for professional development.
The Rota
  • The out-of-hours rota is managed by the mixed vet team, with weekend work involving a first on, second on, and third on rotation, roughly every 4 weeks.
  • First On: Full weekend on-call, followed by weeknight shifts (5pm-8am), with days off. After the weekend, the vet finishes at 7am and enjoys a full week off.
  • Second On: A late start on Monday (1pm) and the following Friday off after the weekend on-call.
  • Third On: A locum shift on Saturday (08:30-15:00) at the practice or the option to take a day off in lieu.
  • During the week, full-time vets work three 08:30-17:00 shifts and two 08:30-19:00 shifts. One night a week involves covering second on-call overnight, followed by a late start the next morning (11am). The practice values on-call work and rewards it with time off.
Successful Candidate
  • Previous experience is preferred, but the practice is open to applicants with varying levels of mixed veterinary experience for both full‑time and part‑time roles.
  • Flexibility is offered for a 4‑day week or compressed hours, outside of the night rota.
