Military Lawyer (Maternity Cover) 1-3+ PQE, Cardiff, £38,500 - £41,500, hybrid

An exciting opportunity to join the Military Injury Department on a 9‑month fixed‑term contract, covering maternity leave.

Overview
  • Manage a litigated multi‑track claimant personal injury caseload from pre‑action through to settlement or trial, ensuring CPR and Protocol compliance with minimal supervision.
  • Take initial instructions, assess liability, causation and quantum, set case strategy, diarise key milestones, and manage procedural, evidential, limitation and costs risks.
  • Draft and settle core litigation documents, including statements of case, schedules of loss, witness statements, applications, directions, and instructions to counsel and experts.
  • Instruct and manage medical and non‑medical experts, conduct disclosure, prepare trial‑ready (including electronic) bundles, and attend CMCs, PTRs and interlocutory hearings, undertaking routine advocacy where appropriate.
  • Drive settlement strategy through Part 36 offers, ADR and negotiations, pursue interim payments, and manage rehabilitation in line with relevant industry guidance.
  • Hybrid working arrangements: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.
  • Open to chartered legal executives or qualified solicitors.
