Overview

MIG Welder / Fabricator – Location: Thetford, Norfolk – Hours: Full-time, Permanent – Pay: £14.00 – £14.40 per hour (depending on experience).

Select Recruitment are proud to be working with our client who are looking to recruit a skilled MIG Welder / Fabricator to join their established production team. This is a permanent role offering stability, development, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive, hands-on environment.

As a MIG Welder, you will be working with mild steel to produce high-quality fabricated assemblies. You’ll be interpreting engineering drawings, carrying out precise MIG welding, and ensuring all work meets strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carrying out MIG welding on mild steel with accuracy and consistency.
• Reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
• Setting up and maintaining welding equipment to required specifications.
• Using measuring tools to check components against tolerances.
• Completing fabrication tasks such as grinding, fettling, and assembly.
• Following health & safety procedures and maintaining a tidy work area.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a MIG Welder in a fabrication or manufacturing setting.
• Confident in welding mild steel to commercial or structural standards.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Basic fabrication skills including cutting, grinding, and tacking.
• Experience using welding tools, jigs, and measuring instruments.
• Welding certification is desirable but not essential.
• Forklift or overhead crane licence would be an advantage.
