The Midwifery Support Worker (MSW) will provide essential support across maternity services, focusing on both Bacillus Calmette‑Guérin (BCG) vaccination clinics and infant feeding care. Working under the supervision of registered midwives, infant feeding leads, and healthcare professionals, the postholder will help to ensure safe, efficient, and family‑centred care., BCG Immunisation Support

Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparation and coordination of BCG vaccinations.
  • Act as the key administrative contact for the BCG clinic.
  • Organise clinic appointments in line with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensure babies are scheduled for vaccination before 28 days of age.
  • Follow up with GPs and child health teams to confirm vaccination status and share updates.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with information governance standards.
  • Contribute to embedding UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards.
  • Support parents with infant feeding in maternity settings.
  • Provide compassionate, evidence‑based guidance tailored to individual family needs.
  • Promote and protect breastfeeding while respecting parental choice of feeding method.
  • Encourage close and loving parent‑infant relationships.
  • Offer family‑centered information and support for dyads with specific needs.
  • Support antenatal parent education sessions.
  • Participate in health promotion events.
