Job description

It is our pleasure to announce that the Community Midwifery Service is now recruiting core staff.

We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Midwives who are passionate about delivering high-quality maternity care in the community and dedicated to enhancing the experience of our service users.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide excellent community based maternity care.
  • Act as a role model for junior staff and students, supporting their development in community practice.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the community setting.

Take responsibility for a specific role within the team, such as:

  • Staff and student off-duty rota management.
  • Delivering pregnancy birth and beyond classes.
  • Breastfeeding Champion.
  • Junior staff appraisals.
  • Friends and Family lead.
  • Audit and safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Mental Health First Aider.

  • Band: 6.
  • Unit/Department: Maternity Unit/Community Midwifery.
  • Location: Leeds General Infirmary/St James's University Hospital/Community.
Person Specification
Experience
  • Significant experience as a midwife or equivalent within speciality.
  • Working with a wide range of professionals including medical and management colleagues.
  • Insight into current issues in midwifery/professional issues.
  • Standards of professional practice.
Additional Requirements
  • Clinical leadership.Teaching skills.
  • Ability to travel to community settings and women's home.
  • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for post.
Qualifications
  • Qualifications - Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent.
  • Live NMC Registered Midwife.
  • Successful completion of the LTHT Midwifery Preceptorship program (or equivalent).
  • Practice Assessor Qualification or willingness to undergo training.
  • NIPE Examiner Qualification or willingness to undergo training.
  • Teaching/assessing qualification.
