Midday Supervisor (Primary Schools, South Birmingham)

We are seeking caring, vigilant, and reliable individuals to join our primary school teams as Midday Supervisors. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the safety, welfare, and positive conduct of pupils during the midday break, ensuring a safe and happy lunchtime experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervision: Oversee children in the dining hall, classrooms (during wet weather), and playground areas, ensuring their safety and security at all times.
  • Support: Assist younger pupils with eating their meals, including opening packaging and using cutlery, while encouraging healthy eating and good table manners.
  • Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour and orderly conduct, dealing with minor incidents in line with school policy and reporting unresolved issues to senior staff.
  • Playtime Engagement: Organise and facilitate constructive play activities, helping to resolve conflicts and ensuring all children are engaged and safe.
  • Welfare and First Aid: Attend to minor accidents and injuries (basic first aid training will be provided) and ensure children who are ill receive appropriate attention.
  • Dining Area Management: Help prepare and clear the dining area, including setting up/wiping down tables and clearing spillages.
  • Essential Skills: Patience, calmness under pressure, good communication and listening skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Requirements: A commitment to safeguarding and the willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory.
