A leading global insurance company seeks a Commercial New Business Trading Underwriter to join their Mid Corporate team. This flexible role allows for home working, focusing on building broker relationships and underwriting responsibilities. Ideal candidates will have prior underwriting experience and strong communication skills, with a competitive salary package and opportunities for career growth.
This is a new and exciting opportunity to work for one of the UK’s leading Global insurance companies. They offer a wide range of general insurance products for the SME to Mid Corp, providing excellent customer service to its portfolio of intermediaries within Midlands.
Working either from home or from their Birmingham, this role is with their Mid Corporate team where they are seeking a Commercial New Business Trading Underwriter. You will be responsible for underwriting all of the commercial insurance account from a new business perspective, in addition to: m aintaining and develop business relationships with intermediaries, producing timely and accurate documentation, actively encourage generation of profitable new business, promoting the business through a polite, and assisting coaching colleagues with technical and procedural aspects of underwriting.
There is great scope for career progression within this role which will give you autonomy and freedom on developing and maintaining key broker relationships within this region. The role will focus on you becoming an integral part of the team, liaising and speaking to your fellow colleagues on a regular basis to maximise cross selling opportunities where possible.
Ideal candidates will have previous experience within a commercial combined, property, (Motor Trade/Motor Fleet would be advantageous) underwriting environment and have previously built and maintained key broker relationships. You will also need to demonstrate that you have drive, self motivation and determination to achieve results, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. In addition to this, you will also need to be a team player but also be able to work under your own initiative. ACII or progression towards this would be advantageous.
This opportunity might suit someone based in the East Midlands as they currently have a Development Underwriter in this area, which could be a good fit in terms of working closely together as a small team. Being based in the West Midlands would also be an option too, and with flexible home working, the successful person would be able to manage their time effectively and not be micromanaged.
Attractive basic salary to £37k, bonus, pension and other great staff benefits plus a generous holiday entitlement would be provided with this role.
