We are seeking a highly experienced,motivated and enthusiastic mental health practitioner and supervisor to workwithin our service. Youwill have an ability to work within a team and to work independently. You willdemonstrate strong leadership skills and be an organised individual who canwork creatively to develop and manage the day to day operation of the service.This anexciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced counsellor/therapisthoping to expand their managerial skillset to join our Mental Health &Emotional Wellbeing Services (MHEWS) team.

Main duties of the job

Weare looking for applicants who are knowledgeable and passionate about Bromley,with 5 years experience of working with children and young people. The post involvesline management and supervision of practitioners, working with colleagues to determineintervention pathways, manage risk and allocations, chairing consultationmeetings and working with the partnership in Bromley as necessary. The post-holderwill also co-ordinate multi-disciplinary consultation meetings, co-ordinate thedevelopment and running of therapeutic groups and lead on therapeuticintervention projects including digital interventions and resources. They willhave skills in report writing including the gathering and presentation of dataand information. The successful applicant will have a small caseload and provideevidenced based interventions for children, young people or families(parents/carers) who are experiencing moderate anxiety, depression and otheremotional difficulties. The successful individualwill work with people from various cultural backgrounds, ages and ability,using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversityinclusion and belonging.

Job responsibilities

Tocontribute to the development of early intervention and prevention service inBromley for children and young people. The post represents an opportunity for aqualified and experienced practitioner,with supervision and management experience, who is committed to the principlesof CYP IAPT and THRIVE, to further theircareer. The post holder will be jointly responsible for oversight of BromleyYs Mental Health and Emotional WellbeingService (MHEWS) referrals, waiting list and allocations management, supportingpractitioner standards through tracking and developing training based on need, conductingcase auditing, line management and supervision in MHEWS. The co-ordination ofmulti-disciplinary consultation meetings, therapeutic group interventions, andthe development and implementation of therapeutic intervention projects includingdigital interventions and resources. Theywill have skills in report writing including the gathering and presentation ofdata and information. This work which involves management of risk with colleagueswill involve responsibility for particular client groups /intervention pathways.One of the purposes of the practice lead role is to ensure that Bromley Y delivers, innovative and evidence basedwith the needs of children, young people and their parents at the centre of ourwork.They will deputise for the MHEWs Service Lead atnetwork and partnership meetings.

Thepost-holder will work with schools, organisations and other charities and staffto ensure that young people from diverse backgrounds receive a service andshould be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all. Someof the work will be carried out digitally from home with the opportunity to seesome children and young people at Ethelbert Road. The majority of the work willbe in the community supporting Bromley children in gaining access toappropriate activities, resources and interventions.

The postholder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensurethat all children and young people can access support at a time which suitstheir needs. This may entail some evening sessions and Saturday working. Aregular presence on site will be required. Thepost-holder will supervise qualified and trainee members of the team. They willhave line management responsibility and a role in developing the service. Theywill have a service responsibility for safeguarding and risk assessment. Thepostholder will contributing to securing appropriate local partnerships and communitysites to support our commitment to bringing services to people. Post-holdersmust have a professional qualification and will be allocated half a day perweek to undertake work to maintain their qualification accreditation/registration requirements.

MAINDUTIES INCLUDING LINE MANAGEMENT

Conduct case auditing toensure Bromley Y professional standards are met and maintained.

To contribute to positiveworkforce wellbeing through the application of Bromley Ys values and use of service policies.

Ensure learning andprofessional development requirements are identified and training programmesimplemented both at service level and for those line managed

Provide casework supervision to identifiedqualified and trainee staff.

To identify, monitor andmanage risk to self or others in every contact.

To develop and manageprocessing of referrals into MHEWS, and the timely allocation to practitioners.

To respond to userexperience and Participation with a focus on co production to contribute toservice development.

To Provide effectivewaiting well support for children/parent/carers who are waiting forinterventions.

To provide an evidencedbased service for children and young people as part of early identification andintervention for children and young people with emotional and mental healthneeds.

Co-ordinate the provisionof evidence-based psychological interventions. This work may be face to face,on the telephone or via other media and involve meetings and liaison with otherservice providers.

Coordination of servicepolicy and procedures.

Adhere to an agreedactivity relating to the number of appointments offered each week as agreedwith MHEWS Lead.

Complete all data entryas required within the service and to keep up to date and clear records of allinterventions in line with service policies and procedures.

To work across agenciesto develop a coordinated response to children and young peoples mental healthneeds offering consultation and advice to other professionals on all aspects ofmental health and wellbeing of children and their families (parents/carers).

To provide support andpsycho education to direct children and their families whilst they awaitfurther, if required interventions to meet their emotional needs.

To be forward thinkingand be a part of idea generation and innovations.

Continuous development ofthe team through regular 1-2-1 sessions to identify areas of improvement andbest practises.

To develop knowledge andethos of the service within your team and establish a centre of excellence.

PRACTICERESPONSIBILITIES

Develop partnership(s)with other organisations to determine their needs and manage the relationship throughthe contract

To ensure that theservice protocols are understood and staff and other organisations aresupported to meet them.

To deliver community basedtherapeutic interventions with a caseload of children and families(parents/carers), to maintain their professional qualification, keeping abreastof current training and practice in such area

To decide on anappropriate course of action with the professionals involved, providing advice,support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing ofchildren and their families (parents/carers).

To plan interventions forchildren and young peoples emotional and mental health issues.

To carry out joint and/orindividual assessments of children and families (parents/carers).

To provide support andguidance to others with the aim of improving skills, knowledge and facilitatingreflective practice.

Manage own workloadthrough both practice and managerial supervision.

Manage the work ofqualified and trainee staff through case management supervision.

Manage relationship andthe contract with organisations through regular contact and meetings andreporting.

EDUCATIONAND TRAINING

Ensure thatall requirements for BACP or UKCP or equivalent accreditation/registration aremet.

Attend andfulfil all the requirements of the CYP PT approved supervision standards.

Identifytraining needs across the supervisees and develop routes for CPD for self and teamin co-ordination with the MHEEW Service Lead.

Attendlocally and nationally organised training appropriate to the work role.

Toensure knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a highlevel of competence.

Toidentify own and others training needs through supervision, line management andpersonal development plans.

Toarrange and deliver training workshops to colleagues and partner organisationsand to lead the evaluation of training arranged or delivered.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health
  • Enhanced DBS (Bromley Y carries out a check as part of screening/vetting)
  • Professional Accreditation/ Registration eg BACP or UKCP or equivalent
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising teams, with a proven ability to manage conduct and performance issues effectively including attendance, punctuality, absence management, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Five years experience of working with children and families (parents/carers), including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
  • Experience of undertaking assessment of emotional and mental health needs children and young people with a key focus on safeguarding
  • Experience of working with multi-agency partners and planning best outcomes for children and young people
  • Experience of working with safeguarding issues and risk assessments
Knowledge and skills
  • Working knowledge of Health, Social Services, Education and the Voluntary Sector
