Qualifications

We are seeking experienced Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support adults with learning disabilities and complex mental health needs across services in the Southampton area.

The Role

You will provide high-quality, person-centred care within supported living, residential, and/or inpatient settings. This role requires confidence in managing complex needs, promoting independence, and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care
  • Supporting individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions
  • Managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour support
  • Assisting with daily living activities while promoting independence
  • Accurate documentation and reporting of care and incidents
  • Working closely with nurses and allied health professionals
  • Adhering to safeguarding, MCA, and CQC standards
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience as an HCA in learning disability and/or mental health settings
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions, learning disabilities, and complex needs
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts (days/nights/weekends)
  • Right to work in the UK
Desirable
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
  • PMVA/MAPA or similar training
  • Experience in supported living, residential, or inpatient services
