Medacs Healthcare are working closely with MPFT to provide support to HMP Isle of White.

  • Band 6 RMN, Staff Nurse (Prisons).
  • Full Time: 08:30 - 16:00
  • Weekends: 09:00 16:00

  • Start as soon as possible approx. 3 months placement
  • Location: HMP Isle of White, Parkhurst Road, Newport IOW PO30 5RS.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

Provision of mental health interventions to Service Users within the prison establishment across wellbeing, primary and secondary mental health.

  • This will involve being responsible for managing their own caseload, including assessments, care planning, delivering interventions and reviewing care of patients located within the prison with a mental illness, within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team and Care Programme Approach.
  • To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced based interventions required including health promotion within a prison environment.
  • To provide a nursing service to prisoners taking account of cultural and spiritual beliefs/needs.
  • To be responsible for the appropriate risk assessment of service users, providing effective advice, guidance and decision making process.
  • Responsible for coordinating the care and assessment under the care coordination approach.
  • To ensure a high standard of nursing in the application of clinical nursing procedures and treatment including the custody storage and administration of drugs.
  • Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including auditing, monitoring and reviewing of clinical practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
