Looking for a senior role where your expertise in medical staffing and leadership skills can help to shape a high-impact service?

At Berkshire Healthcare, we're seeking an experienced Medical Staffing Manager to lead a specialist team supporting all aspects of medical staffing across our 'Outstanding' Trust.

You'll bring your expert knowledge to manage a dedicated team with compassionate and inspiring leadership. The team has responsibility for doctors across the organisation, and you'll work closely with Trust senior management, stakeholders and external partners to deliver high-quality, effective medical workforce management.

Your role will include overseeing:

• Recruitment, induction and management of rotations for resident doctors
• Rota management and accurate pay calculations
• Medical education and training administration, including honorary contracts, course approvals, and study leave
• Managing medical agency staff

This is a full-time 9-5 role, based at Prospect Park Hospital, Reading. Whilst presence on site is required, we are open to considering hybrid working options.

Main duties of the job

• Lead and manage the Medical Staffing and Education team, providing day-to-day leadership, supervision and development
• Hold operational responsibility for medical staffing across the Trust, including resident doctors, consultants, SAS doctors and medical agency staff
• Manage the recruitment, induction and rotation of resident doctors (c.64), including creation of compliant rotas and accurate calculation of pay
• Act as line manager for resident doctors, overseeing rostering, sickness absence processes and occupational health returns
• Lead consultant and specialist doctor recruitment, ensuring robust processes, compliant appointment panels and accurate offer/pay calculations.
• Oversee medical agency usage, supporting safe staffing, cost control and effective agency management
• Support delivery of medical education administration, including honorary contracts, student placements, course approvals and expenses
• Build strong, trusted relationships with clinicians, service managers and senior leaders, providing expert medical staffing advice
• Contribute to service improvement, shaping processes and developing a resilient, future-focused medical staffing service

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications/Training

• Degree level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate short courses, training or equivalent experience, in a relevant field
• Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience

Continuous Professional Development

• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Demonstratable experience of working within medical staffing in a complex healthcare environment.
• Demonstrable understanding of medical and dental terms and conditions

Previous Experience

• Demonstrable experience of working autonomously to deliver high quality and evidence-based medical staffing advice and expertise.
• Experience in making complex recruitment processes and ideally the appointment process for Consultant Medical Staffing.
• Experience in rota development, management and pay processes
• Experience providing inspiring and supportive leadership to junior colleagues through line management or day-to-day supervision
• Ability to lead training programmes or present to a variety of different stakeholders on matters related to medical staffing.
• Uphold the Trust's values of being caring, committed and working as team through demonstrable examples and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Advanced use of digital tools and applications including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
