Your Role and What You'll Be Doing

We are currently recruiting for a talentedGrade C Solicitorto join our Medical Negligence team based in our Sheffield office, led by PartnerSarah Rowland .

Sarah has specialised in medical law for more than 20 years and is nationally recognised for her expertise in birth injury, amputation, and spinal injury cases. She is known for her first-class litigation skills, strategic approach, and compassionate client care, consistently praised by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners.

Our Sheffield team works exclusively on medical negligence cases, supporting clients across South Yorkshire and the East Midlands. We handle some of the most complex and life-changing claims, including cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, cancer misdiagnosis, and fatal claims, often involving inquests.

As a Grade C Solicitor, you will manage your own caseload of medical negligence matters, typically of moderate complexity and value, while also assisting senior team members with high-value, complex cases. You’ll be involved from start to finish, applying your analytical and commercial skills to identify key issues and deliver practical, empathetic solutions. Where appropriate, you’ll aim to secure interim payments to support rehabilitation, care packages, and suitable accommodation before final settlement.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about medical negligence and is keen to develop their career with us at IM. Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor (Grade C) with experience in medical negligence law
  • Have the ability to take instructions from clients and provide sound legal advice
  • Demonstrate technical experience in managing medical negligence cases of moderate complexity and value
  • Be experienced in assisting seniors on complex, high-value cases
  • Possess strong case management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Have the ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for clients
