Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in Lincoln is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Assistant to support tissue diagnostics as part of the laboratory team. Job description

An opportunity has arisen in the Cellular Pathology department based at Lincoln County Hospital for a part‑time Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) working 30 hours per week over 4 days.

As an MLA you will be an integral part of the laboratory team, supporting the delivery of tissue diagnostics for both Lincolnshire NHS Trusts. Full training will be provided and duties include specimen reception and accurate data entry, sample processing, microtomy, equipment maintenance, slide filing and other general laboratory tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Specimen reception and accurate data entry
  • Sample processing and microtomy
  • Equipment maintenance and slide filing
  • Adherence to standard operating procedures and tight guidelines
  • Participation in a rota between 08:00 and 17:30 with Saturday and Sunday rotational coverage when necessary
Qualifications
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE Grade C or above in Mathematics and English)
  • Confidence in the use of information technology and complex equipment
  • Clear communication with a range of healthcare professionals
  • Previous experience working within a process and adhering to SOPs (advantage)
  • High manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and full engagement
