About the Trust

Position Overview

The post holder will work as part of a dedicated MEMS team to provide and develop services across the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington or Denmark Hill (DH) sites. The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) of the department provides a range of services to the Trust. These services include the care of medical electronic and associated devices, training of staff (Medical Equipment Training) to use medical devices and a loan service for medical devices (Equipment Library).

Education and Training
  • Provide training on medical devices for Trust staff using a variety of methodologies (didactic training, workshops, e‑learning etc).
  • Ensure that records of training are maintained and report on compliance with medical equipment training across the Trust.
  • Coordinate and monitor the medical equipment training provided by outside bodies (for example medical device manufacturing companies).
  • Liaise with medical and nursing staff to develop training competencies and knowledge verification systems for relevant staff at all levels.
  • Assist in the development of alternative or enhanced methods of training delivery via available media in collaboration with information technology experts.
  • Visit relevant areas, audit and evaluate local training systems and advise and assist Ward/Department managers to improve or maintain staff training.
  • Provide input as required to staff induction or ward study day programmes.
