Overview

My client are a privately owned Mechanical Contractor based in Surrey who have been operating for 26 years. As a business, they employ about 35 staff across the board and specialise in Fast Track Commercial Office Fit out projects in London with project values ranging from £500k - £11.5Mil. They are now seeking a Mechanical Site Supervisor to join their team.

Role location: site based in London (sites across Central London). Working days: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00. The role involves supervising mechanical installation and related activities on commercial office fit-out projects, focusing on AC, ventilation and associated mechanical plant.

Project values generally range £2m - £5m (ranges mention £500k - £11.5m and typically £2m - £5m).

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection systems.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate daily activities and work schedules for mechanical teams.
  • Ensure all mechanical work is completed on time and within the project budget.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources, tools, and materials needed for mechanical tasks.
  • Perform inspections of mechanical work to ensure quality standards and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure work is performed to the highest quality, meeting industry standards and client expectations.
  • Enforce site safety regulations and protocols.
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Monitor the use of PPE and other safety measures; ensure all mechanical work is carried out safely to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Supervise mechanical tradespeople, including plumbers, HVAC technicians, and pipefitters.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to workers on-site; offer training on best practices and safety standards.
  • Act as the point of contact between the mechanical team and other departments (electrical, civil, project management).
  • Address issues during construction or installation, particularly mechanical failures or design discrepancies.
  • Proactively solve problems and minimise project delays caused by mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, maintenance reports, and safety logs.
  • Document changes or modifications to mechanical plans; prepare and submit reports on progress and status of mechanical work.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (local, national, and international); stay updated on changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Assist in estimating project costs and resources needed for mechanical works; monitor expenditures to keep projects within budget.
