The Role

Reports to: Contracts Manager

Job Overview
  • Support the delivery of B&F’s business vision, goals, and strategy by managing construction projects from handover to final completion.
  • Take responsibility for safe, efficient and high-quality project delivery, ensuring that programmes are met, costs are controlled, and client expectations are exceeded.
  • Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, and uphold B&F’s standards in health and safety, technical delivery, and team performance.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Customer Relationships & Communication
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Represent B&F professionally at all times and act as the key point of contact for your project.
  • Attend and contribute to regular client and site meetings, ensuring clear, open communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Issue timely reports and updates, including monthly site progress reports and completion communications.
  • Ensure all instructions, queries and requests are recorded and responded to, including RFIs and CVIs.
Managerial
  • Take ownership of the project following handover from Estimating.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee daily site activities and subcontractor performance.
  • Manage Supervisors and site teams to ensure quality, safety, and productivity are maintained.
  • Ensure Social Value commitments are understood and delivered across projects, promoting community engagement, local employment, and environmental responsibility in line with client and company expectations.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with B&F’s Safety Strategy and site-specific RAMS.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to their development.
  • Ensure the project aligns with B&F’s IMS processes, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Financial
  • Lead the procurement of labour, materials, plant, and subcontractors in line with programme requirements and commercial targets, ensuring quality and value for money.
  • Work with the QS to ensure accurate forecasting and effective cost control throughout the project.
  • Support the commercial team in managing change control, issuing and agreeing variations, and submitting applications for payment.
  • Provide project cost updates for monthly financial reviews.
  • Contribute to project Profit Enhancement Plans where required.
Technical
  • Manage all elements of the M&E installation to ensure technical compliance and quality workmanship.
  • Lead coordination activities and attend design meetings where needed.
  • Ensure design release aligns with programme milestones, including BWIC, coordination and record drawings.
  • Compile O&M manuals and ensure technical close-out and handover are achieved to a high standard.
Contractual
  • Understand and comply with project contract terms and obligations.
  • Ensure timely issue of key project documentation including start letters, health & safety files, and completion letters.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation throughout the life of the project.
Programming & Planning

Produce, maintain, and communicate a clear and achievable project programme.

Monitor progress against programme and update stakeholders regularly.

Identify key construction milestones and align B&F’s work accordingly.

Highlight and mitigate risks to programme delivery, escalating issues promptly when required.

Requirements
Minimum:
  • Relevant mechanical, electrical, or building services qualification.
  • Five or more years’ experience in a relevant trade or project management role.
  • Previous experience managing M&E projects within a contracting environment.
  • SMSTS Qualification.
  • Asbestos Awareness training.
  • CSCS Card relevant to position.
Desirable:
  • First Aid at Work certification.
