Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience in a medium to large industrial facility.
  • Experience with large mechanical equipment considered essential.
  • Knowledge of contractor management and creating RAMS is vital.

  • Carry out all planned & unplanned maintenance for mechanical systems.
  • Work on boiler & steam systems, CHP, and industrial plant equipment.
  • Liaise daily with contractors and manage stock levels for spares.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Bedfordshire

Monday-Friday Days + 1 in 5 Week On-Call-Rota

£48,000-£52,000

Our client is a leading energy business, with multiple sites throughout the UK, recovering valuable resources to provide power to 100,000 homes in the local area.

Due to growth plans at the site, they are looking for a number of mechanical maintenance technician to join their engineering team.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Working as part of a team of 14 engineers on site
  • Carry out all planned & unplanned maintenance, inspection & fault finding for all industrial mechanical systems, equipment and assets on site
  • Working on boiler & steam systems, CHP, pipework, feed conveyors, industrial plant equipment, bearings shafts, drives, pumps, valves
  • Mechanical workshop activities - make parts, machining, welding, fabrication, fitting, brazing
  • Contribute towards the planning of mechanical stripdowns & overhauls for plant shutdowns
  • Liaise daily with specialist contractors on site, create RAMS, organise & manage contractors
  • Maintain stock levels for spares, update PPM's, method statements and maintain CMMS

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Must have at least 5 years experience working in a medium to large industrial facility
  • Working knowledge of CMMS, contractor management, creating RAMS
  • Transferable industries - recycling, power generation, energy, utilities, industrial manufacturing
  • Strong mechanical fault finding, overhauls, stripdowns and repairs experience
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideally have completed a time-served-apprenticeship
  • Happy with working on a call-out-rota, do overtime and longer hours during shutdown periods
  • Must have dealt with large mechanical equipment
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding, machining experience
