Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Bridgwater | £42,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Kingston Barnes is working exclusively with a leading manufacturing business based in Bridgwater, who are looking to bring on board a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their high-performing engineering team.

This is a hands-on, technically diverse role supporting production agility and operational efficiency across a busy, forward-thinking site. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid background in mechanical maintenance who is ready to make a real impact on site reliability and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and repairing production machinery - ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Conducting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Diagnosing mechanical faults and breakdowns quickly and effectively to keep production on track.
  • Implementing improvements and upgrades to enhance machine performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with production teams to resolve issues, share insights, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Documenting work accurately and supporting compliance with quality, health, and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • An engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent) is desirable, but hands-on experience and a practical mindset are equally important.
  • Proven experience maintaining and repairing production or manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical skills with a solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery.
  • Problem-solving ability - able to diagnose faults quickly and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) practices and techniques.
