Options Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Main Contractor based in Southampton, delivering high-quality construction and refurbishment projects across the South of England. Our portfolio spans education, healthcare, MOD, and local authority sectors, with a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative working, and sustainable delivery.

My client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join the pre-construction team. You will play a pivotal role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical packages across a range of public sector projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that improves communities and public infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and building services

  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

  • Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings to assess project scope

  • Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams to ensure alignment

  • Contribute to value engineering and risk management strategies

  • Maintain and update estimating databases and cost libraries

Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the construction industry

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems in public sector buildings

  • Familiarity with MOD protocols and security requirements (desirable)

  • Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or building services
