Working closely with: Electrical Estimator

Location
  • Flexible working arrangement: 2 days working from home
  • Occasional site visits (travel expenses covered)
Job Summary

The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical aspects of M&E projects. This role involves analyzing project specifications, collaborating with the Electrical Estimator, and ensuring that estimates are aligned with project requirements and company standards. The successful candidate will have room for career progression within our dynamic and growing company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems, including heat pumps and boiler rooms.
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Manager and Electrical Estimator to develop comprehensive M&E project estimates.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and proposals to management and clients.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditions when necessary.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards, trends, and pricing.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of estimating processes and tools.
  • Participate in post‑tender reviews and negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the M&E industry, preferably with experience in heat pumps and boiler rooms.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and their integration into commercial projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, suppliers, and clients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Willingness to travel for occasional site visits.
Education
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
