Mechanical Engineer Team Leader - Gloucestershire EfW

Salary: £50,000 - £66,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Hours: 40 hours per week, 07:30am - 16:00pm

Location: Gloucester EFW, GL10 3ET

As a Mechanical Engineer Lead at FCC Environment, you will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of all mechanical plant at our Gloucestershire Energy from Waste facility, ensuring compliance with pressure regulations and lifting gear test requirements. Acting as the site’s technical lead, you will make sure that systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?
  • Lead all aspects of mechanical maintenance at the facility.
  • Ensure mechanical equipment is correctly operated, maintained, and tested.
  • Maintain and test all safety devices in line with regulations.
  • Monitor the condition of rotating plant using modern techniques.
  • Coordinate and plan maintenance activities, including shutdowns.
  • Control scaffolding in accordance with regulations.
  • Manage statutory inspections and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Recommend plant spares holdings and work within budget.
  • Investigate and rectify plant or equipment faults promptly.
  • Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team.
What are we looking for?
  • Extensive maintenance experience in the power generation sector (Energy from Waste, CCGT, Oil, Coal, Biomass, or Royal Navy engineer background).
  • Proven leadership in demanding and dynamic environments.
  • Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, facility consents, and safety rules.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at all organisational levels.
  • Adaptability, motivation, and a results‑driven mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
