Qualifications

  • Experience working in plant rooms and with a wide range of mechanical building services systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 minimum).
  • Experience selecting and installing pipework systems and components.
  • Competent in reading schematics and technical drawings.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of electrical principles related to mechanical plant actuation.
  • Proven ability working with pumps, including diagnosis and repair.
  • Familiarity with PPM systems of work.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general mechanical maintenance, reactive repairs, and corrective works on commercial buildings, plant, and equipment.
  • Conduct planned and unplanned inspections of mechanical systems in accordance with industry standards such as SFG20.
  • Install, maintain, and repair pipework systems across a range of applications.
  • Read and interpret schematic and technical drawings to support effective fault‑finding and diagnostics.
  • Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems, carrying out maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Apply electrical principles related to the actuation of mechanical systems and plant where required.
  • Work with a range of pumps (DOL and inverter‑driven), undertaking fault‑finding and repairs as necessary.
