Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a pharmaceutical manufacturer in Liverpool. The role involves designing and developing mechanical systems, with responsibilities that include project coordination, compliance checks, and drafting specifications. Ideal candidates will possess a Mechanical Engineering degree and relevant industry experience. Salary is between £40k and £50k, with a hybrid working model.

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer required for a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Liverpool. The successful candidate will be designing and developing mechanical engineering aspects of complex machinery to a project specification and in line with project schedules, technical regulations and business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Confer with engineers, customers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Design, implement, maintain and improve process equipment, components, products and systems.
  • Operate computer–assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Direct and co‑ordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation and testing activities to ensure compliance with all mechanical aspects of specifications, codes and customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish process compliance relating to site installations, industry standards and specifications.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of mechanical materials and equipment.
  • Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.

  • Significant experience within a similar role.
  • Previous experience within the pharmaceutical industry (desirable).
  • Organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office.
Salary & Benefits
  • Salary dependent on experience but likely GBP40k–GBP50k.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Monday–Friday with a 1pm Friday finish.
  • 25 days plus Bank Holidays (we do operate a Christmas shutdown that uses 3 of these days).
  • 4% Employer & 4% Employee pension (Legal & General).
  • RAC cover.
  • Death in Service (x4).
