Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Overview

Our Client is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This role involves designing new products and maintaining existing ones, working on precision engineering projects in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and update 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks in line with BS8888 standards.
  • Generate accurate bills of materials and design‑related documentation, including specifications, manuals, and test procedures.
  • Deliver allocated projects on schedule and manage concessions.
  • Collaborate with engineering team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with prototype assembly and testing.
  • Undertake customer and supplier visits as required (full driving licence essential).
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in detailed product design and precision engineering.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods (machining, castings, mouldings) and DFM/DFA principles.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with simulation methods such as FEA, thermal, and vibration analysis.
  • Strong organisational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain SC security clearance.
