Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer

4-day working week – Monday to Thursday

We’re looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing business that designs and builds bespoke machinery for a wide range of industries. With decades of experience, they’re known for creating cutting-edge solutions that improve how things are made, and you’ll be right at the centre of that.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be taking mechanical design projects from concept through to completion. That means developing creative design solutions, producing CAD drawings, and making sure projects run to spec, budget, and deadline. You’ll work closely with colleagues across different departments and get involved in everything from sourcing components to contributing ideas at design reviews.

It’s a hands-on role where you’ll see your designs move off the screen and into production, with plenty of variety across different projects.

What we’re looking for
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
  • 2+ years’ experience in a design role, ideally within machinery build or equipment design
  • Strong CAD skills with good tolerance strategy
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and communicating clearly with colleagues and clients
Nice to have
  • Familiarity with robotics, conveyors, pneumatics, or similar
  • Awareness of health & safety standards and machinery directives
  • Good understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes
