Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Architect to take ownership of the mechanical architecture for complex defence systems. This role is central to ensuring system performance, compliance, and successful certification, while leading technical delivery across the full product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Define and manage the mechanical architecture requirements and interfaces across the platform.
  • Ensure design compliance through robust analysis, validation, and verification planning.
  • Develop and apply modular, reusable design approaches.
  • Lead customer and stakeholder engagement on technical matters.
  • Provide technical direction to engineering teams and oversee subcontractor activities.
  • Manage budgets, plans, and Statements of Work within your area of responsibility.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) with significant experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within defence, aerospace, or other high-integrity systems.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to define clear technical vision and influence at senior levels.
  • Expertise in mechanical design, analysis, environmental considerations, and thermal management.
  • Good understanding of adjacent disciplines such as aerodynamics, testability, and production.
  • Proven track record across the full product lifecycle, including certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe.
