Job description

Maths Tutor | Burton upon Trent (DE14) | Start: 12/01/26 | Full Time Contract

An outstanding FE College is seeking a motivated Maths Tutor to join the Faculty of Mathematics. You'll deliver engaging and high-quality GCSE Maths lessons to 16-19-year-old learners studying a variety of vocational and academic courses. These learners are retaking their GCSE Maths to work towards achieving a grade 4 or above, and you'll play a key role in supporting them to build confidence and reach their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working hours are five full days a week on site, Monday - Friday, 8.45 - 16.45. This includes at least one full day's admin/desk time.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging GCSE maths lessons.
  • Support learners in achieving their qualifications and targets.
  • Provide constructive feedback and track learner progress.
  • Prepare students for exams, assessments, and practical maths applications.
  • Coordinate and book assessments across all maths courses.
  • Maintain high standards in the delivery of all maths programmes.
  • Keep up to date with curriculum developments, assessment specifications, and best practice in maths education.

  • Someone who can start on Monday 12th January 2026
  • Must have a DBS on the Update System
  • A genuine passion for teaching maths and inspiring learners to achieve their potential.
  • Strong maths knowledge, with higher-level qualifications in mathematics.
  • Experience in Secondary and FE teaching is advantageous, but enthusiasm, adaptability, and a learner-focused approach are equally valued.
  • Highly organised, flexible, and committed to supporting students' progress and confidence in maths.
  • Ability to create engaging, accessible lessons that make maths relevant and enjoyable for all learners.
