Job description

My client is a cutting-edge medical technology spinout from the University of Southampton, led by a team of seasoned entrepreneurs and scientists. They have developed a revolutionary microfluidic test that slashes antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) times from over 48 hours to just 3 hours, helping clinicians fight antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a global health crisis claiming more than 1 million lives annually.

I am seeking a part-time (15-20 hours/week), experienced Marketing Manager to lead and deliver their full marketing strategy as they prepare to launch their game-changing technology in the UK (2025) and internationally (US: 2026/27).

Who this role would suit
  • We're looking for a strategic and hands-on marketing professional with a strong track record in diagnostics, preferably with experience in Pathology or Microbiology.
Qualifications and experience
  • Hold a good degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant discipline (e.g. Life Sciences, Bio-medical Science, Marketing with MedTech focus).
  • Bring proven experience in B2B healthcare or diagnostics marketing, including product launch planning.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, agile, startup environment where innovation, speed, and high standards are the norm.
  • Be a self-starter who can work autonomously while engaging and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be a strong communicator, equally confident writing scientific marketing content and managing third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of the company’s marketing strategy across multiple channels.
  • Plan and execute campaigns involving digital content, PR, KOL engagement, webinars, tradeshows, and industry conferences.
  • Create and manage content across media platforms including: Website, LinkedIn, brochures, press releases, technical collateral.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Engineering, Operations) as well as external vendors, printers, and event organisers.
  • Act as the marketing lead for all pre-launch and launch activities.
Why join
  • Real Impact: Be part of a mission-driven company tackling one of the most urgent global health threats—antimicrobial resistance.
  • Innovative Technology: Help bring a product to market that could transform diagnostic pathways in hospitals worldwide.
  • Experienced Team: Learn from medtech leaders with successful startup experience in both the UK and Silicon Valley.
  • Flexible Working: 15-20 hours/week with flexibility to suit your schedule.
