Viasat Government delivers against the requirements for voice, data, video services and cyber security with demand for global availability and utmost reliability. Whether a military commander on operations, a government official responding to a local emergency or a head of state conducting international affairs, Inmarsat provides them with crucial access to voice and broadband data, where and when they need it.

Primary role purpose:

The Marketing Manager role for the International Government business area is a crucial tactical role. It not only provides input into the marketing direction of the defence and aeronautical campaigns for the business unit, but also ensures that the planning and implementation of associated activities and campaigns run on time and on budget, ensuring a positive impact on market penetration and customer happiness for International Government services within the global market place.

The manager will work closely with the other members of the government team to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that will drive the adoption and sales of new solutions and capabilities, establish a strong market presence, and support the sales team in engaging with target customers, including government agencies, defence contractors, and military organisations.

The day-to-day

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Develop and collate of all marketing plans and campaigns to support sales of aeronautical solutions package to both B2B and B2C audiences, including allocation and management of budgets and return on investment tracking.
  • Be the liaison person for sales, business development and strategic programme teams as well as offer development to establish a campaign plan that fulfils the business units’ objectives and priorities across the aeronautical sectors in all geographies.
  • Work with Marketing Director and aeronautical programme lead to develop, establish and maintain a compelling product set, brand, value proposition as well as cresting internal toolkit to highlight advantages, benefits, brand identity, market positioning and messaging.
  • Develop marketing lead generation campaigns based on current capture business plan.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic go to market campaign for the aeronautical solution.
  • Establish and maintain a compelling online, social media, video and print image plan for the aero programme, to leverage lead gen and GTM campaigns.
  • Produce a post product launch campaign to raise product awareness, generate interest and support sales objectives.
  • Play a major part in the organisation of key marketing industry events, ensure collaborators are driving decisions and the events team are performing as briefed and planned. This includes affiliated, external customer, partner and internal events. Some attendance at events is also required.
  • Liaise internally with different corporate marketing areas/teams, such as creative, digital, brand, events, internal and external communications as well as our operational teams to manage and unsure all content and collateral requests from team members are delivered on brand, on time and on budget.
  • Support the development of all marketing material, collateral, for the new product based on key positioning and external messaging; including but not limited to sales presentations, visual graphics, website, brochure, whitepaper, case studies, articles, blogs and PR content; digital/online sales enablement tool.
  • Support operational lead and wider organisation in the coordination of key internal communications including staff newsletters, reports and leadership updates as well as tracking campaign efficiency and return on investment.
  • Liaise with the sales business lead and programme lead to evolve the robust lead generation campaign.
  • Support possible training sessions internally and externally to partners and collaborators.
  • Generate social media plans and campaigns to increase brand/product awareness and followers, manage these platforms, content and reporting.
  • Foster and support strategic partnerships and collaboration with sector partners and industry outreach.
  • Support demonstrations and create marketing material with results recorded.
  • To develop strong collaborative links with peers across the other business areas and corporate teams to ensure a coherent and aligned overall corporate.
What you'll need
  • Your Skills & Experience:
    • Experience in B2B and working within a corporate marketing environment.
    • Experienced and a generalist marketeer
    • Experience working on global external and internal marketing activity globally.
    • An ability to connect with people at all levels of the organisations including strong collaborator leadership skills - confident and eloquent.
    • Experience in digital marketing, marketing automation and CRM software
    • Experience in content creation, strong writing skills.
    • Creative professional with experience with creation tools such as Adobe suite advantageous
    • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to work to tight timescales and budget.
    • Flexibility, adaptability and a co-operative mentality – able to work as part of a team but also independently and proactively.
    • A good degree of initiative and self-motivation with a natural ability to encourage and develop team members and collaborators but also operationally hands-on.
