The Company cleverly integrates traditional boatbuilding skills with innovative engineering and modern techniques to build vessels of the highest quality.

We now require full-time, fully-qualified and experiencedMarine Fit-out Engineersto come and join our team working 07.00am-17.30pm Monday-Thursday (40 hours per week). Overtime may also be available and is paid at 1.5 times hourly rate.

Job description

The role of Marine Fit-out Engineer includes the following:

  • Fitting all general mechanical marine systems including electrical, heating, ventilation, refrigeration, water and sewage
  • Fitting all mechanical components
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Installing, or directing the installation of, engines or systems from detailed drawings and schematics
  • Evaluating the operation of marine equipment during acceptance trials and shakedown cruises
  • Conferring with supervisors and design personnel in order to clarify or resolve problems, and to develop or modify designs
  • Designing and overseeing testing, installation, commissioning and/or diagnostics, and the repair of marine apparatus and equipment

Essential skills

  • Experience of installing and aligning inboard diesel engines
  • Experience of new build and refit projects
  • Experience of shaft drive, out drive and jet drive installation is preferable
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Ability to working in a clean and productive manner
  • Willingness to undertake additional tasks outside of these requirements for the benefit of the Company and its operations.

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of NMEA 2000 Network would be useful
  • Knowledge of working with marine electrical and electronic systems would be beneficial.

Location
The place of work is normally Southwest Shipyard, Ponsharden, Falmouth TR11 2SE or Mylor Creek Boat Yard, Mylor Bridge, TR11 5NS. You should be flexible to work at either location as required.

Salary
A competitive and negotiable rate ofup to£16.50 per hour, dependent on skills/experience. The starting salary will be discussed at interview.
