Manufacturing Toolmaker

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Manufacturing Toolmaker to join our Telford-based team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, and fitting of jigs, fixtures, and casting tools used across our automated assembly cells. You'll work directly from CAD and 2D drawings, taking ownership of tooling builds, repairs, and improvements to ensure precision, quality, and reliability. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Toolmaker with experience in automotive or precision engineering environments to join a forward-thinking manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble jigs, fixtures, and tooling using CAD and 2D drawings and Bills of Material (BOMs).
• Carry out corrective tooling repairs and ensure timely completion to required standards.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards using CMM data and engineering drawings.
• Support jig, fixture, and assembly cell builds within the MAA business unit.
• Disassemble and prepare casting dies, assemble and fit new inserts and steels.
• Support press and die casting tooling spotting, interpreting blue spots and making surface adjustments.
• Identify opportunities to improve tooling performance, reliability, and quality.
• Ensure build accuracy and compliance with the BOM.
• Provide clear and concise shift handovers to minimise production disruption.
• Train and mentor colleagues in fixture build and tooling processes.
• Adhere to Health & Safety standards and all company policies.
• Perform any other duties reasonably required to support operations.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

• City & Guilds Toolmaker qualification (or equivalent) with post-apprenticeship experience.
• Background in automotive tooling or precision manufacturing.
• Skilled in mechanical and pneumatic assembly.
• Experience working with hydraulic or power presses.
• Ability to identify, prepare, and machine materials accurately.
• Welding experience (TIG, MIG, or ARC).
• Proficiency in non-CNC machining and manual fitting.
• Solid understanding of GD&T and quality verification procedures.
• Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings and CAD data.
• Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) principles.

Desirable:

• Experience with stamping, casting, or injection moulding tools.
• Exposure to hydraulic or power presses (300 tons+).
• Experience in robotic assembly cell integration.
• Overhead crane and forklift experience (training available).
