You will play a critical role in ensuring tooling and equipment requirements are accurately defined, tracked, and delivered to support the development of next‑generation sustainable aviation technologies.

As a valued member of the Manufacturing Engineering department, you will collaborate closely with the tooling design team, sourcing team, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure tooling and equipment solutions are delivered on time, meet technical requirements, and comply with safety and ergonomic standards. This role requires strong project management and cross‑functional collaboration skills to monitor and drive tooling and equipment activities from initial request through design, procurement, commissioning, and implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Tooling and equipment design support: Provide inputs and technical guidance to the tooling and equipment design team, ensuring requirements for each individual solution are clearly defined and aligned with manufacturing needs.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Work closely with the design team to identify tooling and equipment needs and collaborate with the sourcing team to provide technical information, guidance, and prioritisation for RFQs.
  • Supplier engagement: Collaborate with the sourcing team to identify strong suppliers for various tooling and equipment solutions and ensure technical requirements are communicated effectively.
  • Tracking and monitoring: Maintain oversight of each tooling and equipment item, tracking progress from initial request through design, procurement, goods receiving, and commissioning to avoid delays and ensure timely delivery.
  • SME engagement: Engage with subject matter experts (SMEs) as needed to address complex tooling and equipment solutions and act as a signatory approver for tooling and equipment drawings.
  • Health & safety compliance: Work with Health & Safety teams to ensure tooling and equipment solutions are reviewed and approved for safety and ergonomics.
  • Statement of Work (SoW): Produce detailed Statements of Work for required tooling and equipment solutions, ensuring clarity and alignment with project goals.
  • Installation and commissioning: Collaborate with the wider NPI Manufacturing Engineering team on the installation and commissioning of tooling and equipment.
  • Continuous improvement: Implement robust tracking systems, maintain a 5S environment during commissioning, and drive continuous improvement initiatives for tooling and equipment processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Project management skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tooling and equipment projects, track progress, and ensure timely delivery.
Desired Skills
  • CAD proficiency: Familiarity with 3D Catia, 2D AutoCAD, or other CAD packages to review tooling and equipment designs.
  • Regulated industry experience: Background in highly regulated industries (preferably Aviation but not essential).
  • Continuous improvement: Lean knowledge and a passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives.
