Job description
Job Description

Are you the one?

We are looking for a Manufacturing & Assembly Engineer, with a background in electronics or optoelectronics, to take full ownership of building our next biometric devices. This is a hands-on role where you will set up and manage our initial assembly process in a small workshop environment, delivering our first 100 devices by January. From there, you will lead the establishment of a dedicated manufacturing facility, working directly with OEMs and suppliers to scale production into the thousands.

If you are excited about bringing advanced hardware from prototype to production, thrive on solving practical manufacturing challenges, and want to help launch a product that will shape the future of digital, we’d love to meet you.

Responsibilities
  • Own the manufacturing and assembly process for the Palm Vein Scanner (PVS) devices.
  • Lead the build of the first 100 devices in our current workshop setup, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Manage version control and testing in preparation for auditing and certification.
  • Set up scalable processes and tooling for assembly, testing, and QA.
  • Work directly with OEMs and suppliers for key components (cover glasses, optical filters, cameras, screens, electronic boards, tamper prevention hardware, casings, etc.).
  • Reduce BOM costs through supplier negotiation and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Plan and execute the transition from small-scale workshop assembly to dedicated facility manufacturing.
  • Lead the establishment of our first manufacturing site, including workflows, safety compliance, and supplier integration.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to align manufacturing with certification requirements (CE, FCC, UKCA, ISO/IEC, FIPS).
  • Document processes, train technicians, and ensure the assembly line scales to support product launch.
Skills
  • At least a Masters degree in Electronics, Optoelectronics, Manufacturing, Physics, or Materials
  • At least 5 years work experience
  • Proven experience in hardware manufacturing, assembly, and scaling production from prototype to launch.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electronic component sourcing (optics, casings, PCBs, sensors, cameras, displays).
  • Hands-on experience with small-batch assembly, jig/tooling design, and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for consumer hardware (CE, FCC, ISO standards, etc.).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills — able to deliver on tight timelines.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and external suppliers.
Nice to have
  • Experience setting up or running a dedicated manufacturing/assembly facility.
  • Previous work with biometric devices, IoT hardware, or secure electronics.
  • Background in optical systems integration (cameras, filters, cover glass).
  • Understanding of tamper prevention hardware and secure hardware standards (FIPS, ISO/IEC).
  • Fluency in Polish or experience working with European suppliers/manufacturers.
Perks and Benefits
  • Global and Diverse Workforce: You\'ll work with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Learning and Development : You\'ll work on innovative, challenging projects and have access to experts and mentors to enhance your skills.
  • Career Growth : Access to training, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to open-source initiatives.
  • Global Events and Conferences: Opportunities to attend the industry events.
  • Collaborative and Innovative Culture: We foster teamwork and encourage new ideas.
