Manufacturing Engineer

Salary : £45,000 – £50,000 (circa)

Location : Redditch

Shift : Day shifts, Monday–Friday

Our client is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their engineering team in Redditch. This is a hands‑on, improvement‑focused role offering the opportunity to influence manufacturing performance, support new product introductions, and drive continuous improvement within a high‑quality production environment.

This position would suit a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer or Production Engineer who enjoys working cross‑functionally, solving problems at root cause level, and improving processes to deliver consistent, right‑first‑time results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse, develop, and optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, cost, and safety
  • Drive strong process control and capability across manufacturing operations
  • Lead continuous improvement activities using Lean and industrial engineering techniques (Kaizen, time studies, line balancing, value stream mapping)
  • Support the industrialisation of new products, including process development, tooling, work instructions, and validation activities
  • Collaborate with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth transition into production
  • Apply APQP principles and lead PPAP activities to ensure product and process readiness
  • Troubleshoot production issues using structured problem‑solving tools (RCA, 8D, DMAIC)
  • Define and maintain robust process documentation including routings, SOPs, control plans, and work instructions
  • Support the development and validation of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and gauging
  • Monitor manufacturing KPIs such as yield, scrap, throughput, and Right First Time, using data to drive improvement
  • Contribute to capital investment and equipment improvement projects
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in a Manufacturing Engineer role within a regulated or high‑spec manufacturing environment
  • Degree or HND in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of process control, process capability (Cp, Cpk), and SPC
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and waste reduction
  • Practical experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem‑solving methods
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
  • Professional Engineering registration (EngTech, IEng, or CEng)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Exposure to special processes or complex manufacturing operations

This position is based in Redditch and is easily commutable from :

Bromsgrove, Alcester, Studley, Droitwich, Worcester, Solihull, Stratford‑upon‑Avon, Evesham, and South Birmingham.
