Job summary

A leading manufacturer in the UK is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist / Toolmaker to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing new press tools, maintaining existing tooling, and operating various manual machine tools. This role requires a time-served apprenticeship in Toolmaking or Precision Engineering, along with proven experience in manual machining and a strong knowledge of press tool construction. This opportunity comes with a competitive salary of £19 - £20 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Toolmaking / Precision Engineering preferred.
  • Proven experience in manual machining and toolroom environments.
  • Strong knowledge of press tool construction, including blanking, forming, and progression tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture new press tools, jigs, and fixtures to engineering drawings.
  • Maintain, repair, and refurbish existing tooling for production efficiency.
  • Operate manual machine tools including lathes and milling machines.
  • Fit, assemble, and test tooling components in production conditions.
  • Ensure tooling is produced to the highest quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Manual Machinist / Toolmaker Job Overview
  • Manufacture new press tools, jigs, and fixtures to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain, repair, and refurbish existing tooling to ensure production efficiency and product quality.
  • Operate manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and cylindrical grinders.
  • Fit, assemble, and test tooling components to ensure correct operation in production conditions.
  • Ensure tooling is produced and maintained to the highest quality standards within specified tolerances.
