Job summary

An established engineering firm in East Kilbride is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to operate machining equipment and produce high-quality components. The position offers a full-time permanent contract with a competitive salary of £35,000 to £38,000 per annum, 32 days annual leave, and eligibility for a profit-sharing bonus scheme. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in machining and an ability to read detailed drawings.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Manual Machinist, Conventional Machinist, or similar.
  • Experience operating a manual horizontal boring machine is beneficial.
  • Hands-on skills gained within an engineering or manufacturing machine shop.

Responsibilities

  • Operating a range of manual machining equipment.
  • Producing and finishing high-quality components.
  • Inspecting finished items using appropriate measuring tools.
  • Reporting equipment faults to Supervisors.

Please Note: Previous experience in an engineering or machine shop environment is essential.

What's on offer?
  • Full-time permanent position
  • £35,000 to £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Eligibility for the client's profit‑sharing bonus scheme

Responsibilities
  • Operating a range of manual machining equipment within the machine shop
  • Producing and finishing high‑quality components to engineering tolerances
  • Reading and working from detailed mechanical drawings
  • Inspecting finished items using appropriate measuring tools
  • Cleaning and maintaining machinery
  • Reporting any equipment faults or production issues to Supervisors
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Manual Machinist, Conventional Machinist, Manual Turner, Manual Miller or similar
  • Hands‑on machining skills gained within an engineering or manufacturing machine shop
  • Ability to interpret and work from detailed mechanical drawings
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience operating a manual horizontal boring machine – beneficial but not essential
